When YG‘s mysterious “Who’s Next” teaser finally revealed that 2NE1‘s leader would be making her solo debut, fans of K-pop fashion knew that an eyeful of designer duds could be expected from CL — and “The Baddest Female” MV did not disappoint! Much like her labelmate G-Dragon‘s solo effort, the video offered scene after scene of rapper in pieces from many different designers like Versace and her pal Jeremy Scott.
At the end of the video, CL chillaxes in a dusty little village with a group of friends where they dance, skip rope and hang at a hair salon. There were cameos aplenty from Mademoiselle Yulia, designer KiNG Tokyo, Lydia Paek and choreographer Rie Hata in this colorful scene.
Another piece that matches these flashy items is her unique Birkin bag. The ultra-exclusive Hermes handbag was given a facelift by artist Tatum Mazzilli of Year Zero London. One of the things this shop is known for is taking high-end bags from makers like Hermes, Chanel and Louis Vuitton and giving them custom paint jobs to make for a truly one-of-a-kind item. When CL and G-Dragon met up in London earlier this year, they popped into the store and G-dragon was even photographed with the cartoon-covered piece that ended up in this MV.
While amazing accessories fill this video, one of the most eye-catching pieces was CL’s belt in this scene. The ornate silver belt with gold accents is reminiscent of the championship belts you see awarded in boxing ore wrestling, much like the one CL wears over her shoulder in the opening of the “I Am The Best” MV. This particular belt is from the Spring/Summer 2013 Menswear collection from Versace which was filled with similar pieces.
